    Description

    DESCRIPTION:
This listing is for ONE strand only (however several are available- shipping price will be adjusted if multiple strands are purchased). These strands are not identical but they are equivalent to each other. Note: Photo #2 shows Multiple Strands Together, and multiple strands are showcased in photos to give an idea of variety. Your strand will be picked by me from the grouping shown in photo.
You will get ONE Great Extra Long Strand of Vintage mostly Powder Glass Trade Beads with a sprinkling of Vintage Bohemian pressed glass beads, Vintage Venetian seed and tube beads, on (temporary) string. The horizontally striped powder glass beads, and some of the vertically striped beads are handmade by the Asante bead makers in Ghana, West Africa.  These mixed strands show a lot of size and design variety, and are perfect for restringing into multiple shorter necklaces, or for use in multiple Jewelry or Craft Projects! The holes of most are large enough to accommodate 1-1.5mm leather/cord (though some of the Czech pressed & Venetian seed beads have smaller holes).  Powder Glass beads tend to have a matte granular surface.
    Ghana Asante and Krobo
Handmade beads are made from powdered, recycled colored glass that is layered in a mold and melted in kiln to form beads. Various techniques are employed to instill distinctive color designs.
A reed placed in center of powdered glass burns away to form hole.
The actual design pattern is achieved by the careful layering of different colors of glass (similar to the colorful Sand Art seen in jars). Glass shards are sometimes used for vertical lines, and various techniques create unique patterns.  Some traditional designs readily identify the Tribal bead maker such as Krobo and Asante Peoples.  Ghana is a huge bead making region with rich traditions and history.
    SIZE:
Various Sizes- The larger tube shaped beads are ~14-16mm (hole to hole), Med sized averaging ~8-12mm, and smallest ~3-6mm. Strand length varies between ~39"- ~42" long.
COLORS: Main colors are yellow, blue, green, brown, off-white.
    CONDITION:
These are Vintage Trade Beads and show expected wear from having been worn, Traded, and travels. There may be small chips or imperfections in some beads. However, they look in very nice Vintage condition to my eyes.
Please use photos to help determine appearance and condition and zoom in as needed.
