Selling sets of five (5) transistors - these were the exact diodes used in the Electro-Harmonix (EHX) Russian Big Muff Pi fuzz guitar effect pedals.
Newer clones, home-builds, or even official reissues from Electro-Harmonix
do not use the correct, original transistors
- almost always, they're using 2N5089's or something similar, likely claimed to be "the modern equivalent" of the original Russian-production transitors. Well, as someone who's built a LOT of Big Muff Pi guitar pedals (check my eBay store - I usually have at least one in stock), I can tell you - there's a reason that the originals command 0+ prices, and that's because "the modern equivalents" don't sound the same!
If you want to build your own Russian Big Muff Pi - or if you'd like to upgrade one that you already have (regardless of who built it), these are the right transistors to do it with! Each pedal requires four (4) diodes, and I'm shipping five (5) per package - it's always a good idea to include a spare when it comes to electronics! If you also need to the proper NOS Russian-made diodes (KD521A or KD522B depending on which
version
exactly), I have a listing for those as well - check my store! The following pedals used KT3102E's and KT3102EM's (which one was used seems to be fairly random, but more of the earlier ones had KT3102E's - they sound indistinguishable. Markings on the KT3102EM's varies quite a bit - even the batch that I have has a few different types of markings).

While I'm obviously focusing a lot on the Russian Big Muff pedals, that's far from the only use for these. They were also use in other Sovtek-produced pedals (like the Electro-Harmonix Bassballs), but they can be used in
all sorts of pedals

. Really any audio application that requires mid-high gain NPN Silicon diodes can use these instead for a different sound...I've used them in everything from guitar effects to home audio amplifiers.
